Let Customers Take Their Future Car Home. On a Card, for Now.

In a showroom, it is easy to picture yourself behind the wheel. You can open the door, settle into the seat and rest your hands on the steering wheel. Walk around the car, consider the colour and linger for another minute.

Then you leave.

There are errands to run, conversations to have with family and other options to compare. The impression the car made begins to compete with dozens of everyday distractions. The sales consultant is waiting for a decision, while you are already far from the moment when you almost said, “I’ll take it.”

At one dealership, we used Holdercard to help that moment last a little longer.

The Very Car That Caught Their Eye

We printed Holdercards featuring the different cars available at the dealership. When a visitor showed interest in a particular model, the sales consultant offered them a card featuring that car.

The gift became a personal extension of the showroom visit. Moments earlier, the customer had been looking at the vehicle. Now they had its image on something they could take home and use every day.

That small detail mattered. It showed that the consultant had paid attention to their interest. And it gave the visitor something tangible connected to the car they liked.

From the Showroom into Everyday Life

An ordinary promotional card might stay in a folder with the paperwork. Holdercard has a reason to come out and sit on the desk: it holds a phone.

And alongside the phone is the car the customer was considering.

Customers told us they kept noticing the image. They would look at the car, remember how it felt to see it in person and imagine owning it. The vehicle kept coming back into view among familiar things—on a desk, at home, in the middle of an ordinary day.

The purchase was still a possibility, but the image of the car was already becoming part of daily life.

“This Is the One I Want”

People rarely choose a car without discussing it with someone. They want to show their partner, ask a friend’s opinion or tell their parents. But there is a meaningful difference between “I saw a great car today” and “Here it is.”

With the card, showing their choice takes a single gesture.

There is no need to remember the trim level, search through photographs of similar models or explain which car was on display. The image is right there: “Look. This is the one I want.”

Customers told us they showed their cards to friends and relatives. The gift became part of the conversation about buying a car—the conversation that usually happens after the sales consultant is out of the picture.

A Desire They Keep Coming Back To

Buying a car is a significant decision. Even when someone loves a vehicle, they may keep weighing their options. Is it really the right choice? Should they look at something else? Would it be better to wait?

A picture cannot answer questions about price, financing or specifications. But it can preserve the emotional part of the decision: what drew someone to that car in the first place.

Customers said that seeing the card reminded them why they wanted that particular vehicle. They appreciated its appearance, recalled their showroom visit and felt more confident about their choice.

In our experience with this project, customers reached their decisions sooner. The card helped keep the original impression alive between the showroom visit and the next step towards buying.

What We Observed at This Dealership

By our estimate, sales at the dealership increased by approximately 15% during the project. This was the outcome of one implementation; without a separate study, we cannot determine how much of that increase was attributable to Holdercard alone.

But customers’ accounts helped us understand the role the gift played. The car stayed in view. It was easy to show to people whose opinions mattered. And customers kept returning to the idea of owning it.

For a dealership, this offers an opportunity to continue the customer’s experience of a car after they walk out of the showroom. Especially when the gift reflects their individual interest: the particular model they had already stopped to consider.

A sales consultant cannot be there for every family conversation about a purchase. An image of the chosen car can.

Tell us about the cars you sell and how you introduce them to your customers. We’ll develop a Holdercard scenario for your dealership that helps the impression of a car stay with the customer long after their visit.
